Gordian III, 238-244. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 20.44 g, 12 h), Rome, early autumn 243-summer 244. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, seen from behind. Rev. MARS PROPVGNAT / S - C Mars advancing right, holding spear with his right hand and shield in his left. Cohen 158 var. (not draped and not cuirassed). RIC 332b. Fresh and sharp, and with an excellent portrait. Light doubling and with minor deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
